The Federation of Electric Power Companies of Japan (FEPC), an organization of electric power companies that has demonstrated its influence through huge advertising spending in the media, announced on June 13 that the utilization rate of Japan's nuclear facilities in May had fallen from 50.9% in April to 40.9%, the lowest in the past 20 years. Utilization rate refers to the operating rate of all nuclear reactors in the country.
However, while the capacity utilization rates of nuclear power plants are announced, for some reason the capacity utilization rates of other power sources are not made public. In particular, if the capacity utilization rates of thermal power plants, which are the largest source of electricity, are not known, the public will not be able to decide whether or not to abolish nuclear power plants.
In fact, there is evidence that electric power remove background image companies have cleverly restrained the operation of thermal power plants in order to prioritize nuclear power. This is shown in a small table titled "Calculated Values" in a document titled "Comparison of Power Generation Costs of Each Power Source Based on Model Estimation" created by the Federation of Electric Power Companies of Japan (see photo below the table).
In 2002, it was discovered that Tokyo Electric Power Company had falsified records of its voluntary inspection work. This was known as "TEPCO's cover-up of the accident." As a result, all nuclear power plants under TEPCO's jurisdiction were shut down the following spring. Fortunately or unfortunately, the situation did not catastrophically damage the image of nuclear power, and the matter was resolved at the time by stating that "operations were suspended during a period when electricity consumption was relatively low." This document was submitted by the Federation of Electric Power Companies of Japan to the Subcommittee on Costs, etc., of the Electric Utility Industry Division of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry's Advisory Committee for Natural Resources and Energy, held the following January in 2004.
Nuclear power can be covered by thermal power
