At the end of last year, we prepared a series and workshop for the Central Bohemian Innovation Center called Marketing of Science and Research. It resulted in a handbook for scientific and research institutions. It will help you navigate the basic terminology, procedures, and rules of cooperation with a marketing agency like us at Idealab.

Originally, the Zenger building was full of technological equipment for transforming electrical energy into direct current, which powers Prague trams.

Thanks to the modernization of the transformer station, the complete technology is now located only in a small part of the underground. This practically freed up the entire building for new functional use. The technical condition of the neoclassical transformer station from the 1930s, located in Malá Strana opposite the Old Castle Stairs, was in a state of disrepair before the conversion began. The main problem was the use of alumina cement concrete, which, especially in the columns, showed critical strength parameters after 80 years and had to be removed. Significant problems were also associated with contamination with oil and mercury.

Gallery conversions
The conversion of the originally technical building into an art museum aims to preserve the original external shape of the building and facade to the maximum extent. The basic idea is to clean it of insensitive and inappropriate interventions from recent years and to let the characteristic elements that are being professionally restored stand out. A new entrance to the Kunsthalle is being built along a footbridge paved with Prague mosaic. At the same time, it hides the air conditioning exhaust of the transport companies, which in recent years has been inappropriately placed in front of the main western facade. In the middle wing, in place of the original technological terrace, there is a one-story extension with a surface finish of ground terrazzo, which in no way competes with the original building in its simplicity and at the same time complements the principle of a receding, articulated facade. This extension allows light to enter through a large-format window, the proportions of which are derived from the dimensions of the facade.
