StatCounter.com data for the first quarter of 2024 clearly shows that the most popular internet search engine in Poland is Google. On all types of devices, it is used by an average of over 95% of all users in our country. It is no wonder that the vast majority of SEO specialists in our country focus on positioning clients' websites for this search engine.
The second place on the podium of the Polish search engine market with a result of 3.14% was taken by Bing, owned by Microsoft. The next place was taken by DuckDuckGo, which for the first time won this facebook database position, replacing the Yahoo! search engine, owned by Verizon Media. Yahoo! has maintained its position for many years, but its popularity is decreasing with each year. In the first quarter of 2022, 0.71% of Polish users used Yahoo!, and in 2024 it is only 0.39%.

Internet search engines in Poland - mobile devices
According to StatCounter, May 2015 was the first month in the history of the study when mobile devices were used more often than desktop devices to browse the internet in Poland, and since then this advantage has been maintained practically all the time. In July 2018, it was as much as 67% to 33%!
In the Polish search engine market for mobile devices, Google crushes its competition, achieving a result of 98.59%. However, this result is 0.42% worse than in the same period in 2023 due to the growing popularity of DuckDuckGo, which is used by 0.58% of users (an increase of 0.34% and a move from third to second place compared to last year). The reason for Google's continued dominance on mobile devices is the large number of devices with Android operating systems based primarily on Google services, such as Google Assistant, Gmail, Google Maps, YouTube or Google Search. In the case of devices with Apple systems, the Mountain View company pays billions of dollars a year to keep its search engine as the default. The next positions in the ranking on mobile devices in Poland are occupied by: Bing, Yandex, Yahoo! and Ecosia.

Desktop users in Poland are more open to solutions from other service providers. Bing is gaining a lot on computers, and other popular search engines include Yahoo! and DuckDuckGO. Compared to 2023, the largest increase in users was recorded by Bing, which improved its result by 2.96%. Just as the vast majority of mobile devices in Poland use the Android system, a large number of desktop devices are equipped with Windows systems, which, like Bing, belong to Microsoft, which has a large impact on the market share of this search engine. The increase in interest in Bing is also noticeable thanks to ChatGPT's contribution to the optimization of the search experience, and many users have started to use Microsoft's solution more often for this reason.
