Linkedin Summary is your USP

Post by shakilhasan15 »

Writing the Linkedin summary is the most important aspect of optimizing your profile along with your photo. It requires synthesis, self-knowledge and communication skills. Here is my experience based on observing hundreds of summaries or headlines from people who have attended my Linkedin course .

Find your USP : think of your summary as a TV commercial of maximum 7 seconds. What would you write? What would you say?
Instead of your current job (there is a specific field where to put it) stuffed with Anglicisms or the shopping list of your alleged skills (there is a section where they can be validated) concisely share and summarize your passions, your motivation, what you can do and above all your USP or unique selling proposition , or the thing that makes you belgium telegram phone number list as a professional.
If you have difficulty finding your USP, it is normal, finding the synthesis is a challenging exercise; read my post “ why you exist ” to help you.
This is my summary, the result of time and reflections:

Be authentic : ask your boss who knows you to describe your work and qualities in 20 words maximum.
How do they differ from the USP you just wrote? If they are similar, you have found your ideal summary or headline.
If they are very different, you must understand why, keeping in mind that a future employer often calls your former boss for a reference/opinion, especially if you have worked a lot in a company. Here Linkedin offers a tool to help you personalize your headline .

Be consistent and targeted : ask yourself why you are on Linkedin and adapt your summary to the objectives of your presence. If you are looking for clients with Linkedin, remember that a gradual approach also pays in the profile (the considered social selling that we talk about in this seminar in Lugano ).
If you are looking for new job opportunities, writing it in the summary will not attract more employers.
