Today is March 8th, International Women's Day , and, from e-strategia, we want to share this list of women, not so well known, without whose work today's marketing would not be anything like what it is. Thank you to all the women who have made this possible and to those who work day after day so that marketing, design, positioning... continue to enamor us.
These are the forgotten women who have given us so much:
Marylin Monroe (1926 – 1962): We could consider her one of the first influencers in history, in fact, she still is today and has become a pop icon. Her real name was Norma Jean Mortenson and she was one of the most famous actresses to have ever passed through Hollywood; her love life filled magazine covers. Today we are sure that she would have a blog, an Instagram profile and would work for many brands.
Ada Lovelace: She was the first woman capable of writing a programming language applied to an analytical machine, what today would be a programmer!!!
Grace Murray Hopper: Her contribution is more recent canada business email list but she contributed decisively to the development of the COBOL programming language, which is still used in banks today.
Nellie Bly: Considered by many to be the first blogger, Nellie was a reporter who, instead of attending interviews or writing articles about fashion (a common thing for reporters of the time), launched herself into doing a kind of undercover journalism; she infiltrated different situations and then wrote a chronicle of how she had experienced it. One of her most famous reports was “10 days in an asylum” in which she pretended to be crazy to enter the center and experience it firsthand. We don’t know what would happen today if she had Twitter or Instagram… Can you imagine?

Evelin Berezin: This American engineer was the mother of the first word processors and what is considered an office computer in the 20th century; that is, what is known today as Word, Google Docs… What do you think? If you are looking for a processor for your computer, you can search online.
Mª Ángeles González Lobo: A leading figure in media planning, an important part of a good advertising and marketing strategy.
Bernice Fitz-Gibbon: One of the first and best copywriters in history. She was the creator of famous slogans such as “It's great to be thrifty” (Macy's) or “Nobody, but nobody, underestimates Gimbels” (Gimbels) in the 1920s. This woman has one of the most successful advertising careers. She was also well known for organizing large events or for her advertisements in newspapers. She became the first female art director in the advertising industry.
Susan Kare (1954): Graphic designer and pixel art pioneer . Without her contribution, we would probably not be speaking emojis on our smartphones today . She was also the creator of Mac icons and gave MAC OS an intuitive language that was universally recognized, like traffic signs. Her archive has been acquired by the MoMA in New York.
These are some of the most important women in the world of digital marketing . History is made by ALL of us: men and women.
